A happiness jar is deceptively simple: a jar you fill, one small note at a time, with the moments that made you smile. Over weeks and months it quietly becomes a record of the good in your life, the kind of thing you can dip into on a hard day and remember that plenty went right.

All it takes is a jar, some colourful paper, and thirty minutes to set it up nicely. Decorate it so it draws your eye, cut your notes to a friendly size, and then start the real habit: each day, jot down one thing that made you happy, however small. On tough days or at the end of a month, pour them out and read through. It is a beautiful reminder of what you might otherwise forget.

Gather your materials: a jar with a lid, a stack of colourful paper, a pen, and optional stickers or ribbon.

Suggestion: A mason jar works perfectly.

Decorate the jar so it draws you to it: stickers, paint, or a wrapped ribbon. Make it personal.

Cut the paper into small pieces, big enough to write a few words or a short sentence about a happy moment.

Each day, reflect on what made you happy, however small, write it on a note, and drop it in the jar.

On special occasions or hard days, read through your notes. Revisiting them is a lovely reminder of the good in your life.
