Free writing is journaling without the brakes. You write for a set time without editing, censoring or worrying about spelling, and let whatever is in your head spill onto the page. What comes out is often more honest and more surprising than anything you would plan.
The only rule is to keep the pen moving. Even writing I do not know what to write counts, until the next real thought arrives. Ten minutes, no judgement, just you and the page.

Find a quiet, comfortable spot where you will not be interrupted for ten minutes. Home, a cafe, a calm park bench.
Grab a notebook and a pen you enjoy. Writing by hand tends to loosen the flow better than a keyboard.
Set a gentle ten minute timer so you can stop watching the clock and fully let go.
Start writing the moment the timer begins and do not stop. Ignore grammar and spelling, just keep the pen moving.
Suggestion: Stuck? Write I do not know what to write until the next thought comes. When time is up, read it back and notice any themes or feelings. Resist editing. The value is in the raw version.
