There is a particular calm in being awake and still while the sky lightens. This short retreat uses that window to ground you: quiet breathing, a little sketching, some gentle movement, and a moment of gratitude. Half an hour that sets the tone for everything after.

Find a spot with a clear view of the horizon, wrap up warm, and let the rising light do its work. You do not need to be a yogi or an artist, only willing to be present as the day arrives.

Begin with calming breath. Sit tall, inhale through the nose for four, hold for four, exhale through the mouth for six, and repeat for five minutes.

Sketch or journal the morning. Capture the shifting colours and let your thoughts flow without judgement. No skill required.

Move gently with a sunrise salutation. Flow through reaches, forward folds and easy lunges, following your breath.

Close with gratitude. Write down three things you are thankful for and carry that steadiness into your day.
